New place, New experience

Hey what's up yall! I am now a little over 7 months on the mission and finally moved into a new area! I had been in Saratoga for 4 transfers and loved it but for almost 2 weeks now I got moved to East San Jose and it's awesome! I am training, district leader and in a trio, and so I'm with a fresh missionary out of the field named elder Nakaya and I'm with my guy elder call who I had served with me in my 1st transfer in Saratoga, but hes leaving in a couple days to Mexico for his original assignment. Were also in an apartment with two other elders, elder davidson who also was in Saratoga with me and he's training also. Its a ton a fun being in a 5 man and in our zone is tons of fun as well, lots of basketball on pdays and popeye tuesdays after district councils. The mission is great though, I have learned more in 7 months than I would've in 5 years probably, also the latino people are great, love these people to death and truly brings me joy serving the people he...

6 and half months in the Greatest place and work

What's up everybody!!! Been a while again but things are going good here in the Saratoga area. Loving this branch as they are so close to a Ward and will probably get there in November. There are about two weeks left in the transfer and I got informed at interviews with my mission president that I will be leaving the area next transfer, so sadly I will miss so many of the great people here and the members of the San Tomas Branch, easily we have one the best branch mission leaders, but I will be on to big and better things wherever they need me. Not sure where I'm headed but right now just focusing on the work here at Saratoga. My comp who I'm training is Elder Brasher. He gets really down on himself for feeling he's not doing enough and loses his confidence easily but he's a really hard worker and humble guy which pays off as he has improved a lot in the language and is building confidence each day. This week was great though as we found 72 peop...

Becoming a Father and Uncle

Image
Hey Everybody! Sorry it has been awhile but a lot of awesome things have happened this transfer. As well as it has flown by and come to an end. From the title, first just wanna congratulate my sister and brother in law on having a baby girl, you did it and ya boy's gonna be an uncle! Also I'm gonna be follow up training a missionary into his 2nd transfer who is switching from the english program to the spanish. Very wise decision and I couldn't be more excited to welcome him into the program. Elder Powell is dying off and has finished his 2 year mission and so this missionary that is coming is named Elder Brasher. With the new transfer coming in it will make it about 5 and half months in Saratoga/Campbell zone and I love it here! Really strong branch that is close to being a ward and so I hope I am here when that change happens.  Also for some of the big highlights we had a baptism last week for our friends Luis and Karina. Such a strong faithful couple that re...

Out Of Training

Image
Hey everyone!! Sorry it has been awhile since I have written an email haha. But wow a lot has happened. I am now in my first week out of training and am in the same area of Campbell California. My trainer Elder Burrup went home last week finishing his mission and it was sad to see for me but am so grateful for all he taught me. We became good friends while we were out here together and he truly changed my mission. He was a heck of missionary that taught me so much about having a good work ethic and how to really nurture the people we teach and help them see that vision to be baptized. I'll never forget the example he set as a missionary that I push to follow every day. I a lot of good stuff has happened but all I'll say about these last 3 weeks to keep it shorter is that a lot fun times and spiritual and mental growth has happened in me and in the people we are teaching.  We now have 4 spanish companionship instead of 6 so me and one of the other elders who stayed merged our...

I Love This Work

Whats up everbody! These past two weeks we have found a ton of new people and about almost all of them are Nicaraguans who are tougher to understand because they dont prounounce there S's but they are hilarious and awesome people. We found a total of 23 people last week which was amazing for us. We had a big heat wave of it being in the 100s so everyone was out on the street which made it perfect. I have really grown a strong love for the latino people lately, as my Spanish has grown a lot recently it has been a huge blessing to be able to express that love and share the gospel with these people. Despite how many people we found it was pretty rough with our baptismal dates. We had to drop all 5 of our baptismal dates last week. We finally met again with the Bello Cruz family this week and the kids are leaving Thursday to Mexico for a month and the parents are gonna be in Nebraska for a month working out there while there kids are in Mexico. They also had some cervezas with them an...

El bautismo

Hey everybody, hope everyone is doing great! These last two weeks were very eventful and were great with a lot of good work done.   To start, our friend Gonzalo got baptized! It was such an exciting weekend for him and us, as he gotta do it at our branch presidents pool in his backyard, which was just awesome. The greatest thing with gonzalo though is the amazing progress he has made, his baptism was about a week and half ago and he has already gotten the priesthood and his temple recommend, so absolute beast. We love him though and am so excited to see where his great testimony of the gospel takes him. We also had our friend Diego put on date for June 26th this past week. He is 19 and speaks English, and is so awesome. We taught him last week about the gospel of Jesus Christ and right after we talked about baptism and the gift of the holy ghost, he immediatley asked us when he could get baptized. It was so awesome for us to hear and the spirit couldnt of been more present to...

Mariachi bands and A temple trip

Hey everybody! How has everyone been? A lot has happened the last two weeks. The first week was pretty rough for us. So we had our friend julia on date for  May 22nd and she was doing so great but stopped answering us a couple days before the baptism, and we still havent been able to get in contact for the most part which has been really tough but she still gets on our church zooms so we will continue to try and reach out and meet with her again. We also had our family the Bello Cruz who are awesome and had on date on May 29th. So they had been out of town for awhile and about a week and half before their baptism we finally got a good time to come by their place to teach them the word of wisdom. They let us in and inside our about 20 people with about 8 racks of modelos in the living room. So that was super frustrating for us as when we finally found a good time to talk to them about drinking we walk into them doing exactly that. But they gave us some good mexican food and l...
