Elder Jack Plumb's San Jose, California Spanish Speaking Mission March 10, 2021 - 2023

  Hey everyone!! Sorry it has been awhile since I have written an email haha. But wow a lot has happened. I am now in my first week out of training and am in the same area of Campbell California. My trainer Elder Burrup went home last week finishing his mission and it was sad to see for me but am so grateful for all he taught me. We became good friends while we were out here together and he truly changed my mission. He was a heck of missionary that taught me so much about having a good work ethic and how to really nurture the people we teach and help them see that vision to be baptized. I'll never forget the example he set as a missionary that I push to follow every day. I a lot of good stuff has happened but all I'll say about these last 3 weeks to keep it shorter is that a lot fun times and spiritual and mental growth has happened in me and in the people we are teaching.  We now have 4 spanish companionship instead of 6 so me and one of the other elders who stayed merged our...

 Whats up everbody! These past two weeks we have found a ton of new people and about almost all of them are Nicaraguans who are tougher to understand because they dont prounounce there S's but they are hilarious and awesome people. We found a total of 23 people last week which was amazing for us. We had a big heat wave of it being in the 100s so everyone was out on the street which made it perfect. I have really grown a strong love for the latino people lately, as my Spanish has grown a lot recently it has been a huge blessing to be able to express that love and share the gospel with these people. Despite how many people we found it was pretty rough with our baptismal dates. We had to drop all 5 of our baptismal dates last week. We finally met again with the Bello Cruz family this week and the kids are leaving Thursday to Mexico for a month and the parents are gonna be in Nebraska for a month working out there while there kids are in Mexico.  Hey everybody, hope everyone is doing great! These last two weeks were very eventful and were great with a lot of good work done.   To start, our friend Gonzalo got baptized! It was such an exciting weekend for him and us, as he gotta do it at our branch presidents pool in his backyard, which was just awesome. The greatest thing with gonzalo though is the amazing progress he has made, his baptism was about a week and half ago and he has already gotten the priesthood and his temple recommend, so absolute beast. We love him though and am so excited to see where his great testimony of the gospel takes him. We also had our friend Diego put on date for June 26th this past week. He is 19 and speaks English, and is so awesome. We taught him last week about the gospel of Jesus Christ and right after we talked about baptism and the gift of the holy ghost, he immediatley asked us when he could get baptized.   Hey everybody! How has everyone been? A lot has happened the last two weeks. The first week was pretty rough for us. So we had our friend julia on date for  May 22nd and she was doing so great but stopped answering us a couple days before the baptism, and we still havent been able to get in contact for the most part which has been really tough but she still gets on our church zooms so we will continue to try and reach out and meet with her again. We also had our family the Bello Cruz who are awesome and had on date on May 29th. So they had been out of town for awhile and about a week and half before their baptism we finally got a good time to come by their place to teach them the word of wisdom. They let us in and inside our about 20 people with about 8 racks of modelos in the living room. So that was super frustrating for us as when we finally found a good time to talk to them about drinking we walk into them doing exactly that. But they gave us some good mexican food and l...

  Whats up everybody! This week was pretty exciting for the most part. My comp and I switched to bikes this past week ughh but we're actually super hyped and are seting a goal to get some good cut legs by the end of this transfer haha. But we very much missed the rav4 hybrid, but not Twee, which is this annoying speed detector on the car that yells at you everytime u go a mile over the speed limit, which drove my comp crazy haha, but helped us stay safe   . We also got a ton of food from a new convert my comp baptized down in watsonville so we got a lot of delicious fruit from her. We also did some service for our member friend bro weaver who helps out with the spanish branch in san jose. He also loves taco bell and the chalupa because he never stops talking about it haha so he took us their after we shoveled some rocks for him.   Hey everyone! This week flew by. Unfortunately earlier the week we had to drop our baptism date with Ricardo because we found out he just wasnt getting baptized for the right reasons and he wanted to push it back. So we put him on date for the 22nd of May, but then we found out yesterday that he is moving back to Las Vegas. So we are very bummed about that but are gonna talk to him this week and hopefully can get him back on track. Besides the tough news with Ricardo, the other people we are teaching have been doing great. We just put a guy named Gonzalo on date and have another girl named Brinda we are planning on putting on date this week. On wednesday we were knocking a door of someone we used to teach but hadnt gotten in contact with them for a couple months. A different guy named Santiago answered the door instead. He said the other person had moved out about a month ago but he immediatley invited us in. We shared with him a scripture and message of Christ and after he told ...

 What's up everybody! I have been in San jose for two weeks now and I'm loving it. It has definitely been challenging and stressful with the new transition and new information to take in, but each day I see myself improve. I got in on April 20th and met my mission president and my companion and had a bomb dinner at his house that some sisters in the ward made. My companions name is Elder Burrup and he is awesome. We all call him elder burro tho because thats what the Latinos call him. We get along great tho and he is extremely determined to get the Lord's work done and pushes me to do the same. My district and zone are also great and every tuesday we get a sweet meal after zone and district council from a member in the Saratoga stake and it is rica (delicious), which is a big win since we don't get many meals from members.
