Trip To Oakland, CA

 Hey everyone! This week flew by. Unfortunately earlier the week we had to drop our baptism date with Ricardo because we found out he just wasnt getting baptized for the right reasons and he wanted to push it back. So we put him on date for the 22nd of May, but then we found out yesterday that he is moving back to Las Vegas. So we are very bummed about that but are gonna talk to him this week and hopefully can get him back on track. Besides the tough news with Ricardo, the other people we are teaching have been doing great. We just put a guy named Gonzalo on date and have another girl named Brinda we are planning on putting on date this week. On wednesday we were knocking a door of someone we used to teach but hadnt gotten in contact with them for a couple months. A different guy named Santiago answered the door instead. He said the other person had moved out about a month ago but he immediatley invited us in. We shared with him a scripture and message of Christ and after he told us that he had recently prayed to have God back in his life as he had really been struggling and told us how we answered that prayer. After we prayed with him before we left he couldnt stop crying and gave us both hugs and told us thank you. We will be meeting him again this week which we are super excited for. That was really something special for us and helped me know and remember why god needs us out here serving a mission. On Saturday we had the oportunity to go to the oakland temple with our recent convert Ceci and also Kelly who we are teaching. We did a tour through the visitors center which was awesome as both Ceci and Kelly loved it. We talked a lot with them about how Christ came to the Americas and the great love he has for all his children on this earth. We also walked around the temple grounds which was a great spiritual experience as well all in itself. 


My Spanish has really improved a ton from last week which is great, although I still have lots to learn and it is still very tough a lot times, but patience is key. I will definitely say that if I didn't have the spirit and Gods help through learning the language I wouldnt be anywhere close to where I am with it now. Studying and practicing the language is all super important, but I know 100% of what I have taught and said to others wouldn't of been even half as effective on them without the spirit and the lords guidance. It has helped me to focus my time on people I teach and find rather than myself, and I know as I continue to do that that will bless me and the people I teach as a result.

  Como estamos!!! Sorry it has been so long everyone! I'm still in Menlo Park and now 4 weeks into my 4th transfer here. I have a new companion again and his name is Elder Banks and he's a stud! He's a great example of love that he shows to all and has great high energy in getting the work done.  It has been so cool to see all that has happened since I have been in Menlo, a big one being the baptism of Stefani Gurrola. She was so determined the whole time to not let adversity stand in her way. Embrace The Suck

  Que pasa todos ustedes!!! So my p-day got switched to wednesday's now. Also this is my last week in the CCM! Crazy how fast it has flown by, but I have learned a lot and am ready to head out to San Jose.  This past week and half was very up and down. We started out the week beginning to start teaching out of the lessons of Preach My Gospel in Spanish and explaining scriptures in Spanish which was a big step up for the District. It was really tough at first, but through more and more practice and trusting in God, I have made great improvement. A lot of times I felt like I was not doing as good in the language as I should and that my abilities weren't the best. 4 Weeks In, 2 To Go

 Hola mi familia y amigos Well sorry y’all for not writing for my first 4 weeks haha, please forgive my slacking, but I promise you’ll be hearing from me weekly from now on.    The virtual MTC (Missionary Training Center) has been going good though. I started on March 10th on a Wednesday. My companion and District are awesome, love them all to death. My companion, Elder Ashby is from Farmington Utah and couldn’t be more grateful to have him as a companion. The dudes a stud and has such a strong testimony of the Gospel. His nickname in the district is “Pops” because he’s the only one whose 21, which isn’t old at all, but because everyone else is 19, but also because he's like a true dad and loves saying “oh goodness” a lot haha. Shoutout to Elder Grothe, who isn’t the only Elder who everyone thinks is 35 haha. But all jokes aside, it's really because he cares more about our district than anyone else.
